Post Mounts.

*avoids flaming objects and hate mail*
I know it has been said before (don't end it immediately), but I want to say it here and now:
Mounts should be in the game. Here is how it would work:

You are level 10
Mounts cost 3000 faction to purchase
You PvP or GvG a lot
You have enough faction
You use faction to buy mount of your choice
You can use it inside and outside of town

If you like it, fine. If you don't, fine. Just don't post things about it not working for GW and don't send the hate mail all at once.

Only if they make those big two legged birds available as mounts.

Chicken-riding rangers, firing from bird-back!

Be careful what you ask for, though... I'd be willing to bet that mounts would take at least two skill slots much like pets do.

That'd be pretty cool. I'd make a Ranger just to toy around with it. Otherwise i'd be jealous of some random Ranger i'm questing w/ is traveling faster on his pet. Also this would make runs a lot faster from city to city.

I like the idea of mounts except for two things.

1. There is no real need for them in the game. Arguably, they could help with some areas, but truly not necessary to get from point A to point B.

2. More Rushing through. Mounts would make people move faster through areas, which in turn means they could, in a sense, out run the enemies. More runners charging people without mounts to get rushed or everyone has mounts and just runs though the hard areas to get to the next town/city/outpost.

Hmm... make sure mounts can take damage and die and equip creatures with things like muddy terrain and the like to slow them down.

But I agree, no need for mounts.

Except giant chickens.

I bet Anet can find some way of making mounts work in GW.

there COULD be a need for them. like adding skills that compliment them....
wouldnt you say you could do more damage with a hammer if it hits from the top? on your head? I'd say so. all kinds of skills could be dded for them. it could work seriously. but i don't think you should use them in town. that's stupid. just adds more pixels to lag, and plus its a skill, its a pet, so it should stay outside with the other skills and pets. but i really think this could be fun to try out.

Well, I would see skills required (and skill slots taken) for mounted attacks and the like... healing, a skill just to ride (think Charm Animal),... skills that would be useless if your mount died and you found yourself on foot...

Ha ha, I was just thinking about much easier forge runs would be! Of course i'm sure they're smart enough to "beef up" the monsters if they add mounts later on. I think it would be cool to have mounts! Imagine riding on something like the stone sumit does...I forgot the names, but you know what I mean.

You could always make a mount only aesthetic. People would purchase them because they look cool, even though they don't do anything. Of course, then some people would complain because they get to ride a giant spider or soemthing that doesn't help them attack. =\ But I'd love to see mounts, especially a giant spider

I would play WoW, but I don't feel I should have to pay to play every month (call me cheap, I don't care) and I really like Guild Wars! Besides for GW to maintain the interest of gamers and bring in new gamers, adding things like mounts will certainly help. That way I won't have to pay n' play WoW or EQ.

there is 1 thing u should keep in mind. The stone summit dont tame there mounts instead they yust put chains on it and stuff and bend it to there will whilst a mount selling person would actually have to tame the beast or raise em from birth and offcourse who is going do that if there wasnt money involved i say put them in make em not move you faster and moneysink wee

That's right! I forgot to mention that. But I was just using that as an example. It would be cool to have a mount that you sat really high up on.

For the love of the search function, use it.

This topic has been beaten to death, resuggesting it wont change anything.

Mounts are not a good idea for GW. Why? Increased perma-movement would be way to powerful. If no increased movement, whats the point. We have map travel, this isnt a game where you run across the continent to get to a hunting spot.

So, for the 6th time or so, I say NAY, to mounts.

Booo! Map travel is boring... Actually I thought you said that you did want mounts in the game and that it would be a great idea.

I don't think it would work but I do admit it would be really nice if they could make it so.

Just not at level 10, 20 isn't asking anything at all.

At what point did you have a seizure, and come up with the bright idea that GW should turn more and more into every other MMORPG made? I know it's been said before, but seriously, go play WoW. Or, be content playing something that's not retarded with mounts and potions and fishing.
